all about algae

eng.

For more than 10 years I have had a strange love for algae. On the surface of the sea, they are considered by many to be disgusting or even scary, because you don't know exactly what is underneath.

In fact, from a biological point of view, they are essential for our existence. Every second breath contains oxygen from algae. Scientists assume that algae were formed about 2.2 billion years ago. They are thus among the oldest plant organisms on earth.

In terms of photographic history, the motif of algae in the work of Anna Atkins is a phenomenon that led to the first books of photographs.
